About Anam Cara Autism Camp

**We do not profess to be a healing or teaching facility within the Autism Spectrum, but rather to offer an environmetally based reprieve for children and young adults in a caring and non-judgemental atmosphere.**

Our Camp has been established in Bedias, Texas offering easy access from the Houston, Austin and Dallas Metro areas. We are located at 3287 Dick Barnes Loop off I45 just 45 minutes north of College Station and 30 minutes east of Huntsville.

Anam Cara means "Soul Friend" in Gaelic - our intitial intent and hope for future camps is to provide a 1::1 ratio for each child attending.

Our current structure does not allow for this provision; we have decided a known caregiver would be the best Anam Cara for those needing more intimate support during their stay. This will first be available as a Caregiver and Me camp with Caregiver discussion and respite opportunities included.

We will also offer camp for those with higher functioning abilities - as we see there is not a place for those in this group to have such an experience. The camp will be directed towards late teens and early adults.

Ecumenically based it is AnamCara’s goal to provide ease of Spirit with no dividing lines or judgement. Open to all Autistic children 7-21 with moderate to severe Autism. It is important that safety be the criterion for that which we offer. Within this guideline our programming will develope as we are best able to serve.

Program dates are TBA as we determined the heat of summer might not be the best situation for those attending. The camps we develop will be tailored specifically for each Child's need and enjoyment. Anam Cara is a place where your Child can openly be him or herself - exploring, creating and learning through nature’s stimuli.
